Our core values

First and foremost, we are a Christian community. We are centred on Jesus, directed by the Bible, and inspired by the Holy Spirit. In common with all Christian churches, we share devotional life and seek to encourage one another’s discipleship. Here are the six values we try to live by:

Creativity - Lots of people in our community contribute to the arts in a range of different ways. We believe the arts play a significant part in human flourishing and are crucial in the expression of the Christian faith. We recognise that artists have often been misunderstood or sidelined, including within Christian communities. We want to champion artists in our church and our wider community and we continue to learn how best to do that.

Vocation - We believe that all work is important and that how we work matters. We actively support and challenge one another in our vocations across many different fields. We back each other in taking courageous life decisions - and help each other to keep work in its appropriate place. Many of us are part of a local co-working space that facilitates collaboration and nurtures social initiatives.

Partnership - There are many other individuals and organisations whose visions and values complement ours, and we value opportunities to cooperate. All of our projects partner with other local churches, and we also support other organisations through time and funding.

Innovation - We try to be open to new ideas in how we can enable each other to use our skills to benefit the wider community around us. As one example of this, we have given grants to provide time and seed-funding for new projects aligned to the church’s vision to be initiated and trialled.
